Hakushu is a Single-Malt Japanese Whisky with a surprisingly crisp, fresh taste and a gentle peating. After malting, the grain is milled and mashed, then added to Suntory’s large wooden wash backs for fermentation. The high-altitude location gives the storage facility one of the most unique climates in which to age the slumbering spirit. Hakushu 18 color is deep and golden. The nose shows ripe pear, dried mint, oregano spice and the signature hint of smoke. The palate is exotic jasmine, mango, quince and a slightly cooling note of menthol which leads to a long pleasantly smoked finish.
